Punahou rallies past Iolani in football

Drew Monahan scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with six seconds left to give the host Buffanblu a 40-35 comeback victory over the Raiders.

Punahou took over on downs with 30 seconds left, and Monahan drove Punahou 65 yards for the winning score.

He completed passes of 40 yards to Micah Strickland and 24 yards to Stanley Fisher that put the ball on the 1.

Punahou, which led 21-8 after the first period, fell behind 35-28 after Robert Mageo's 12-yard scoring pass to Tonee Suetsugu and Jason Keanini kicked the ensuing extra point.

Monahan passed 18 yards to Fisher to close it to 35-34 with 3:05 left. Punahou's two-point conversion attempt failed.

Iolani's Raynold Stowers passed the 1,000-yard rushing mark, carrying the ball 29 times for 95 yards yesterday for a season total of 1,027.

ST. ANTHONY 30, LAHAINALUNA 12: Daniel Parker threw and ran for touchdowns as the Trojans beat the Lunas in a Maui Interscholastic League game last night at War Memorial Stadium.

Parker threw a 59-yard TD pass to Clinton Cravalho and ran for a 6-yard score in the first quarter.

It was St. Anthony's first win of the second round.

Chaminade beats BYUH: Petar Samac scored with 29 seconds remaining in overtime as Chaminade beat No. 18 Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 12-11, last night in a water polo match at La'ie.

Chaminade improved to 10-6, while BYUH dropped to 14-9.
