Biz notebook

• The Four Seasons Resort's concierge of 10 years, Margaret Batungbacal, received the "Most Aloha Spirit" Crystal Award during Guest Informant's annual Aloha Spirit Awards ceremony and dinner in September.

• Worldwide Processing Inc. and Dawson International Inc. of Hawai'i have agreed in contract to co-market the patented IC-Health Prepaid Card from Intelligent Card Services.

• Scoozee's Deli Express has opened in the Pacific Guardian Center at Bishop Square.

• New tenants: Since the opening of Foodland Super Market at Parker Ranch Center in May, Starbucks Coffee, Healthways II and Parker Ranch Store have also opened in the center in Waimea.

Giggles children's boutique, It's All Good specialty boutique, Don's Chinese Kitchen and Sakura Kitchen have signed leases.

• Kahala Nui, a senior living community to open in Honolulu, was honored with two National Mature Media Awards for excellence in marketing communications to senior adults.

• Kapalua Bay Hilton & Ocean Villas, a luxury resort on Maui, recently completed the final phase of a five-year, $32 million renovation.

• J.E. Higgins Lumber Co., based in San Francisco, recently opened a 1,200-square-foot showroom in the Gentry Pacific Design Center.

• Wireless World, a wireless communications company, opened its second Maui store earlier this year at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

• New Markets Institute recently was created by Ogilvy & Mather Hawaii and Market Trends Pacific as a company specializing in boomer, ethnic, women's and youth markets.

• City Bank, a subsidiary of CB Bancshares Inc., recently won an American Bankers Association advertising award for its entry, "Guerrilla Marketing With City Bank's Teal Bench." The bank was awarded a Certificate of Excellence at the association's conference in Miami.

According to the association, 14 Best of Show Awards and 30 Certificates of Excellence were announced this year, out of hundreds of entries received nationwide. City Bank was the only Hawai'i winner.

Dennis Christianson, creative director of Laird Christianson Harris Advertising, City Bank's advertising agency, came up with the concept of the bench icon.
