Two agencies receive grants

The City and County of Honolulu's Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS program has granted money to two agencies that assist people with HIV/AIDS and their families. Assistance with housing and services will also be offered. The agencies are:

  • The Life Foundation, which is being granted $93,240 to provide comprehensive case management services to 50 people with HIV/AIDS and to provide emergency rent, mortgage and utility payments to up to 68 people with HIV/AIDS who are at risk of becoming homeless due to impending eviction, foreclosure or utility termination. Some of the money will also be used to support a coordinator who oversees volunteer services to people with HIV/AIDS and the training of Life Foundation volunteers.
  • Gregory House, which has been granted $331,620 to provide rental assistance payments to 40 people with HIV/AIDS and their families, plus housing-related support services.

"The work of the Life Foundation and Gregory House programs affirms our community's compassion and dedication to assist persons with HIV/AIDS and their families," said Mayor Jeremy Harris.
