Loss drops UH Wahine rank to third

Advertiser Staff

Last night's three-game loss to Stanford dropped the previously unbeaten and No. 1-ranked University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team to third in today's USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

UH, which took over the No. 1 spot last week, fell 31-29, 30-28, 30-24 before a sellout crowd at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Voting among 65 college coaches lifted Stanford (24-3) to No. 1, followed by Southern California (21-1) and UH (23-1). The Cardinal has beaten two previous No.1s, UH and USC, in the past 10 days.

Stanford received 36 first-place votes to 27 for USC and 2 for UH.
