Foodbank drive under way

Nextel Partners has begun its second annual holiday food drive, called "Nextel Cans for a Cause," for the Hawai'i Foodbank.

The wireless services provider has a goal of 500 pounds of canned food this year, and donations can be dropped off at Nextel's office at 550 Paiea St., Suite 210, or at its retail store at 98-150 Kaonohi St., Suite B-216 in 'Aiea.

Donations are being accepted through Nov. 22.

Earhart's fate to be discussed

A discussion on "What Happened to Amelia Earhart?" will be held at 11 a.m Saturday at the Waialua Public Library, 67-068 Kealohanui St.

Tweet Coleman, Pacific representative for the Federal Aviation Administration, will be the featured speaker.

The event is for children as well as adults and is sponsored by the Hawai'i Chapter of Women in Aviation.
