Tonight's Must-See

"My Best Friend's Wedding" (1997), 8 p.m., ABC. Sharply written and perfectly cast, this movie is a first-rate romantic comedy. Dermot Mulroney is marrying a pleasant, blonde beauty (Cameron Diaz). His old pal (Julia Roberts) should be happy for him. Instead, she grabs her gay friend (Rupert Everett) and schemes to sabotage things. The result has a strong script by Ron Bass and fine direction from P.J. Hogan.

"Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. When it needs a laugh, NBC has a quick solution: Meet the folks. Tonight, it's Phoebe's turn. Desperate to make a good impression at a dinner party hosted by Mike's huffy parents, she tries too hard. Meanwhile, Chandler discovers what may be a compromising videotape of Monica.

Of Note

"Survivor: Thailand," 7 p.m., CBS. We're in the second half of the show. Tonight, the field gets trimmed to seven.

"Concert for World Children's Day," 7 p.m., ABC. Celine Dion and Enrique Iglesias head the show.

"Scrubs," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) has gone a long way since the days when he mostly scared people. In this episode, he wakes up in bed with a beautiful drug representative (Heather Locklear), then gets a surprise from his ex-wife (Christa Miller). Meanwhile, J.D. and Turk moonlight at a free clinic, and Carla tells Elliot to stand up to her father.
