University of California running back Joe Igber, who set a Hawai'i high school rushing record while at Iolani School, has accepted an invitation to play in the 2003 Hula Bowl Maui game Feb. 1.
Igber ranked fourth in Pac-10 rushing with 814 yards. He has 2,808 yards for his career at Cal. Igber is a "solid all-around player who can run, catch the ball and block," Cal offensive coordinator George Cortez said.
Igber set an Interscholastic League of Honolulu single-season rushing record in 1998 with 1,993 yards.
Also participating in the game will be Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich, who has passed for 2,995 yards and 19 touchdowns this season.
