FAITH BRIEFS
Dharma Center official to speak

As part of the Art House at Restaurant Row's "Power of Truth" film series this week, the Lama Karma Rinchen of the Dharma Center of Honolulu will speak and answer questions at the theater today.

His question-and-answer session follows today's 5:15 p.m. showing of "The Power of Truth: According to the Dalai Lama," part of the Tibetan film festival.

The hourlong documentary shares the Dalai Lama's message of nonviolence and the need for "a warm heart with human intelligence." The movie looks at Tibetan culture, as well as the devastating effect of "re-education" by Chinese communists. It screens at 1 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. today and Tuesday, and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Other films showing: "Saltmen Of Tibet," "Ram Dass: Fierce Grace," "Lung Ta: The Forgotten Tibet," "Sherpa: Unsung Heroes" and "Himalaya."

Jan Youth, minister at Honpa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple; Andi Van Der Voort, president of Humanists Hawaii; and Dr. Glenn Paige, president of the Center for Global Nonviolence.
