Haleakala center to close for repairs

Advertiser Staff

HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK, Maui — The Haleakala Visitor Center, which receives more than 1 million visitors annually, will close for repairs and improvements for a week starting Monday.

The closure will allow for the installation of a new visitor services desk and fixtures for the visitor center sales area. Cleaning, painting and minor repairs also will be conducted. Restrooms will remain open.

The visitor center, located at the 9,740-foot elevation, will reopen next Saturday for normal business hours — 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. While the center is closed, the Park Headquarters Visitor Center at the 7,000-foot elevation will be open for extended hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The summit building at the 10,023-foot elevation will remain open.
