Beaujolais Nouveau, the first pressing of French Beaujolais, is what many call the most frivolous and animated ritual in the wine world. The event signifies a worldwide race to be first to serve this new wine of the harvest. Indigo Eurasian Cuisine's Beaujolais Nouveau Festival kicks off at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow after the arrival of the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau Wine (via armored car, no less). Food, wine and music will be in abundance. The event costs $30, or $28 in advance. Call 521-2900 for details.

Who thinks of dessert in a Chinese restaurant? Raymond Siu of Pah Ke's Chinese Restaurant in Kane'ohe whose restaurant and skill are a too-well-kept secret has designed a menu of light desserts that friends are raving about. He's using egg whites, soy milk, fresh fruit and powerfully flavored ingredients such as ginger and green tea to retain the flavor but take away some of the fat and calories in dishes such as Egg White Moon Cake with Lilikoi Mousse and Guava Sauce, Warm Ginger Broth with Mochi, Vanilla Soy Milk Custard with Fresh Fruits and Mango Sauce.
