Makawao teen dies from motorcycle crash injuries

Advertiser Staff

A 15-year-old Makawao boy died yesterday from injuries he suffered when his motorcycle was struck head-on by a pickup truck Tuesday on Makani Road in Pukalani, police said.

Greyson Kaehuaea was flown to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition Tuesday with two broken legs, a broken pelvis, a torn aorta, possible brain injury and spinal injuries. Police said he died at 8:15 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the boy's 2002 Kawasaki 220cc trail bike crossed the center line at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday while rounding a curve on Makani Road.

Kaehuaea, who was not wearing a helmet, collided with a Pukalani-bound 1998 Ford Ranger. The driver, an 82-year-old Pukalani man, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
