Kealakehe advances to volleyball quarterfinals

Kahaunani Kahananui amassed 18 kills as Kealakehe outlasted Pearl City, 14-16, 15-9, 17-15, in an opening round match of the Nissan Girls State Volleyball Tournament Championship yesterday in Hilo.
Kealakehe (13-4), which finished third in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, advanced to today's quarterfinal against Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Kamehameha (15-0).
Chalice Kaapuni had nine kills and four blocks for Pearl City (11-3), which finished third in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association.
