Chaminade, BYU-Hawai'i set for volleyball regional

Chaminade will make its first appearance in the Pacific Regional of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships today in San Bernardino, Calif.

The fifth-seeded Silverswords (15-7), who earned an at-large berth, play fourth-seeded UC San Diego (25-4) in a match scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. HST.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Brigham Young-Hawai'i (22-2) will be making its first tournament appearance in two years. The Seasiders, who have a first-round bye, play tomorrow against the winner of today's match between third-seeded Western Washington (23-2) and sixth-seeded Cal State Los Angeles (19-10).

Host and top seed San Bernardino (28-2) plays the Chaminade-UC San Diego winner. The final will be played Saturday.

In 1999, BYUH won the regional tournament and went on to capture the national title.

3 p.m. — No. 3 Western Washington (23-2) vs. No. 6 Cal State Los Angeles (19-10).

5:30 p.m. — No. 4 seed UC San Diego (25-4) vs. No. 5 Chaminade (15-7).

Tomorrow

3 p.m. — No. 2 Brigham Young-Hawaii (22-2) vs. winner of Western Washington-Cal State L.A. match.

5:30 p.m. -— No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino (28-2) vs. winner of UC San Diego-Chaminade.

Saturday

5 p.m. — Championship match
