THE LEFT LANE
'Sopranos' take time

Time is on "Sopranos" fans' side.

Show creator David Chase said there won't be another 16-month hiatus before the next season of the popular HBO mobster drama.

The show's writers are at work on scripts for the fifth season, with production set to resume in early March, Chase told the New York Daily News. "The Sopranos" will then be back with new episodes next September, meaning roughly 10 months will have passed from the Dec. 8 season finale to the launch of the next outing.

That will come as welcome news to rabid fans, who have had to suffer more than a year between new episodes about Tony and the gang.

'8 Mile' and more

What's Eminem's next act?

Eminem has gone from reviled rapper to man of the moment with the success of the movie "8 Mile."

So what does he do for a sequel?

Eminem has said he would like to act again, even saying on MTV that he wouldn't mind doing a comedy. If that makes you laugh, remember that Ice Cube went from a hard-core rapper in the pioneering gangsta group NWA to the good humor man in films such as "Friday" and "Barbershop."

"8 Mile" producer Brian Grazer ("A Beautiful Mind" and "Blue Crush") says he thinks Eminem is ready to make the jump. "He has a charisma and intensity a lot of actors don't have," he says.

Getting the guide

Going to the movies? That's what you'll need to do to pick up a copy of The Honolulu Advertiser's Movie Guide, available at Signature and Consolidated theaters.

An item in this spot Nov. 11 touted the illustrated guide to the season's flicks, but we didn't make it clear as we should have that this guide is not a supplement to our newspaper — it can't be found inside The Advertiser, but only at theaters.
