Wave riders from 'Surf for Life' to attend reception for film

Surf's way up at The Art House at Restaurant Row as the award-winning documentary "Surfing for Life" is screened at 3 and 5:15 p.m. tomorrow.

And you can meet some of the surfers: Peter Cole (pictured at right), Fred Van Dyke, Dr. Shay Bintliff and Rabbit Kekai, who were featured in the film, will attend a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the theater lobby.

The documentary, which focuses on surfers who are still riding the waves in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, is being screened as part of the "Catch a Wave Surf Film Festival."

"Surfing for Life" also will be screened 1 p.m. Monday, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Tickets are $5 for matinees; $7.75 after 6 p.m. Call 526-4171 for a complete schedule of films.
