Celebrate Pasko! the Filipino way

Advertiser Staff

The holidays, Filipino-style, come to Honolulu at Pasko!, 1-5 p.m. tomorrow at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Pasko! will offer children's games, traditional foods, music and dance, and an arts and crafts sale with handcrafted parol (Christmas star lanterns) and woven textiles from Mindanao tribes. There will also be an Escrima martial-arts demo.

Among the event's highlights is a reenactment of the Visayan Ati-Atihan, where participants with masks and colorful costumes dance in the street to commemorate when the aboriginal Ati people found a statue of the Christ child. Admission is free. 532-8700.
