Advertiser Staff

Brigham Young-Hawai'i swept Cal State-Los Angeles, 30-24, 30-20, 30-17, yesterday in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Pacific Regional Women's Volleyball Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif.

The second-seeded Seasiders (23-2) will play top-seeded Cal State-San Bernardino (29-2) in today's final.

BYUH's Ashley Moeai and Yu Chuan Weng each had 14 kills, and Chun Li Lin added 12.

Dana Coffey led the sixth-seeded Golden Eagles (20-11) with eight kills.

"We played just enough to beat them," BYUH coach Wilfred Navalta said. "It was kind of ugly. (CSLA) was extended from (Thursday's match). They didn't have any energy."

CSLA upset third-seeded Western Washington Thursday.

The Seasiders hit. 254, while the Golden Eagles hit .041.

San Bernardino defeated UC San Diego, 30-20, 27-30, 30-24, 30-23.

In 1999, the Seasiders won the national title, after winning eight titles while affiliated with the NAIA.
