Rainbow Wahine defeat Nevada

Associated Press

RENO, Nev. — Hawai'i won its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament today with a 30-19, 30-32, 30-13, 30-23 victory over Nevada.

The title gives the second-ranked Rainbow Wahine (28-1) the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

But first, Hawai'i will close out its regular season on the road with non-conference matches at Brigham Young on Tuesday and at Utah on Wednesday.

Kim Willoughby, who was named the WAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player, and Lily Kahumoku led Hawai'i with 26 and 19 kills, respectively.

Teammate Lauren Duggins had 15 kills and seven blocks while hitting a tournament-record .789.

Laura Wooley had 15 kills for the Wolf Pack (21-8).

Kahumoku, Duggins and fellow Rainbow Wahine Jennifer Carey joined Willoughby on the All-Tournament Team.
