BRENDON LEE has been named circulation manager of This Week Magazines, overseeing distribution of some 6 million annual issues of various This Week publications statewide. The veteran of management, employee training and customer relations will be responsible for This Week's nine magazines, distributed from more than 1,000 locations on four islands, including This Week O'ahu, Maui, Big Island and Kaua'i; Ala Moana Shopping Center, Pearlridge Center and Ward Centers magazines; Pleasant Hawai'i Magazine; Aloha Festivals Magazine; and multiple map publications.

FAY OKAMOTO, a veteran of more than 10 years in the design, implementation and operation of local captive insurance companies, has named vice president of Arthur J. Gallagher Captive Services (Hawai'i). Captive insurers are those created and wholly owned by one or more non-insurers, to provide their owners with coverage. As such, Okamoto will be responsible for management services for local Gallagher and Atlas Insurance Agency clients. Most recently, she was vice president with Marsh Management Services Inc.; and before that, with the audit and tax departments of Deloitte & Touche.

• Expanding Atlantis Adventures' retail business at its O'ahu attractions is among options being pursued by KAREN LOCKWOOD following appointment as director of revenue development for the company. The veteran of more than seven years in management with Atlantis is charged with generating new revenue using existing company resources and infrastructure. Lockwood has also served as Atlantis director of marketing services; product manager (in marketing); productions director of O'ahu operations and merchandise manager.

NORINE KEKUAOKALANI has been named customer service supervisor for human resource staffing firm Remedy Intelligent Staffing, overseeing front office operations and servicing of clients and applicants. Also joining the full-service staffing organization is PATRICK STUART, named human resources manager, responsible for all employee benefits and placements, as well as recruiting programs with local universities. He is past associate human resource manager for Hapuna Beach Prince and Mauna Kea Beach hotels on the Big Island.

KEVIN MATSUOKA, a veteran of more than 20 years in Hawai'i-Asia-Pacific sales for the ground operations, airlines and hotel segments of the local visitor industry, has been hired by Hilo Hattie as director of sales for its Asia Division. Matsuoka was most recently with Castle Resorts & Hotels, and the Outrigger Guam Resort.

• Marine aquaculture research scientist DAVID E. VAUGHAN has joined the scientific team of the Oceanic Institute in the newly created position of director of aquaculture. Vaughan is founder and immediate past manager of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution's Shellfish Culture Department in Florida, as well as director of the institute's aquaculture division.

MIEKO CRANS, expert in the Japanese travel market, and a veteran of more than 20 years in the hotel industry i including senior sales positions at three large local hotel chains i has been named sales manager for the 207-room boutique hotel, Royal Garden at Waikiki. Crans' experience includes positions with Castle Resorts and Hotels, Aston Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Hotels.

LINDA BEECHINOR, past president of the Hawai'i Nurses Association, has been named to the board of directors of the 180,000-member American Nurses Association. Beechinor is a full-time faculty member at Hawai'i Pacific University and owner of a consulting and recruitment company.

KEONI QUEYPO, formerly co-manager of the Home Depot Pearl City store, has been named to manage the chain's first Big Island store in Kona. The new 140,000 square foot facility, including 24,000 square foot garden center, in Kaloko Business Park, is Home Depot's fourth store in Hawai'i. Queypo has also worked at the chain's Iwilei outlet, and is a past assistant manager at Wal-Mart in Kunia.
