Tonight's must see

"The Osbournes" season-opener, 8:30 p.m., MTV. In a poignant moment Sharon Osbourne reflects on her life. "Things are so good now," she says. "Something is going to come and hit us on the chin." Viewers know she was right. After this was taped she was diagnosed with cancer. That will be addressed next week. Tonight's opener catches the Osbournes at their breeziest. Ozzy goes to the White House correspondents' dinner; Kelly sings at the MTV Movie Awards. Meanwhile, Jack (Kelly's brother) blasts sightseers with lawn sprinklers and his sister with barbs.

Of Note

"Uncle Saddam," 5 p.m., Cinemax. Here's a surprisingly funny film on a dead-serious subject showing how Saddam Hussein's eccentricity has engulfed life in Iraq. In a poor country, it says, Saddam has 21 palaces and many yachts. Pictures of him fill walls, TV screens, even an entire art museum. One underground joke: "There are 20 million Iraqis and 20 million portraits of Saddam, so no one goes without."

"8 Simple Rules," 7 p.m., ABC. Patrick Warburton guests as John Ritter's new boss. Between them, they have six teen daughters — and different approaches to parenting.
