Two Harris donors to pay $2,500 in fines

 •  Indictments sought in campaign donations

Two engineering firms have agreed to pay fines totaling $2,500 for making excess contributions to Mayor Jeremy Harris' 2000 re-election campaign.

The companies, PSC Associates and Leung and Pang Associates, are among dozens of firms and individuals fined by the state Campaign Spending Commission in the past year for improper donations to Harris and other Hawai'i politicians.

Leung and Pang officers gave Harris $8,100, or $4,100 more than the legal limit during a single election period, according to a conciliation agreement the company signed with the commission. PSC Associates gave Harris $1,000 too much.

Commission director Robert Watada said the investigation into excess contributions is continuing.
