Hotel occupancy averaged 70 percent statewide in October, a 17.6 percent increase from 59.53 percent occupancy in October 2001 when business was hurt by a slowdown after Sept. 11.
But the average daily room rate continues to suffer. The data released yesterday by PKF-Hawaii showed the average daily room rate of $129.02, down 1.14 percent from $130.51 in the same month a year ago. Revenue per available room averaged $90.33 statewide, up 16.27 percent from $77.69 last October.
The October statistics are based on a survey of 132 properties, including 72 hotels and 60 resort condominiums.
