Case increases shares in firm

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu-born Steve Case, chairman of AOL Time Warner and a majority shareholder in Maui Land & Pineapple Co. Inc., recently purchased an additional 7,500 shares of the Hawai'i company, bringing his total holdings to 2.98 million shares.

Case purchased the shares last Friday for $13.25 each, according to recent Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The company's stock closed Wednesday at $16.27, up 6 cents.

Case, a Punahou graduate and founder of AOL, first invested in the Maui-based resort, agricultural and commercial property company in 1999 when he acquired a 41.2 percent stake of the closely held company from the Harry Weinberg Family Foundation Inc., the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Inc. and 300 Corp. for $41 million.
