Tonight's Must-See
"Trading Spaces: London," 9 p.m., The Learning Channel. This hit show is based on a British oddity, "Changing Rooms." Both have the same notion: Working with eccentric designers, a tight budget and limited time, people transform a neighbor's room. The details vary a little, but the idea is the same. For this hour-long special, host Paige Davis goes to London with designers Genevieve Gorder and Hilda ("Hildy") Santo-Tomas. They have 48 hours to transform two rooms. "Santa Jr.," 7 & 9 p.m., Hallmark Channel. The world is suddenly fretting about Santa's offspring. In the past couple years, there have been movies on ABC, Pax (twice) and now Hallmark. This one has Nick Stabile as Santa's son, arrested for breaking and entering. His lawyer (Lauren Holly) agrees to house him, while a cop (Judd Nelson) watches warily. The result is low-key, charming and sometimes quite clever.
Of Note
Football, 3 p.m., ABC. Some areas will see the Florida-Florida State collision; others will catch Notre Dame at California.
Skating, 7 p.m., CBS. Here's another of those "Ice Wars" events, with U.S. skaters facing those from around the world.
"Big Daddy" (1999), 7 p.m., Fox. Adam Sandler plays a slacker who is a temporary guardian for a lad. Cole and Dylan Sprouse, who are twins, play the boy; Joey Lauren Adams is the love interest.
"A Christmas Story" (1983), 6 p.m., TNT. It's not too early to start seeing this clever show, with a boy's view of a 1940s holiday.
"The Graduate" (1967), 6 p.m. & midnight, Bravo. Mike Nichols brilliantly directed this comedy-drama, getting a star-making performance from Dustin Hoffman.
"Saturday Night Live," 10:35 p.m., NBC. This reruns the episode hosted by U.S. Sen. John McCain. It is moderately funny.
