Eid al-Fitr celebration

The Muslim Association of Hawai'i will hold its Eid al-Fitr celebration, which occurs at the end of the month of Ramadan, either Thursday or Friday at the Manoa district park near the association's mosque.

Festivities will begin with 8 a.m. supplications, followed by 9 a.m. prayer, then breakfast and activities. At 1 p.m. will be the regular Friday prayer, followed by lunch, games and activities.

Ramadan is the holiest time of the year for Muslims. The sighting of the crescent of the new moon determines the end of the month, during which followers of Islam abstain from eating, drinking and sex and other indulgences from sunrise to sunset. Information: 947-6263.

Prayer summit Jan. 15

Radio station KGU-AM is teaming up with Hawaiian Islands Ministries for a prayer summit from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 15 at Kaimuki Christian Church. The "Intercessory Worship" gathering will bring together pastors from O'ahu to pray for the new government. Information: Ryan Andrews at 441-2711.

Weekend conference

The "Eagles and Angels" conference with Gord and Jan Whyte will be held 9 a.m. today and 6 p.m. tomorrow at Kaimuki High School cafeteria. The "prophetic ministry" sessions will discuss weighing and testing the prophetic and responding to holy visitations and ministering angels. Call Vineyard Christian Fellowship at 847-3186.

'Got-Matzah' offered

Temple Emanu-El in Honolulu is again offering "Got Matzah," a mail-order service for Passover goods, including more than 70 kosher-for-Passover items and wines from Streits Kosher Foods. Proceeds will benefit the temple's educational programs. Deadline: Dec. 15. Call: 595-7521.
