Feel the rhythm of the taiko beat

Feel the beat as the sound of the taiko fills Orvis Auditorium at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. Taiko master Kenny Endo, above, and his ensemble will present two very different concerts at 7:30 p.m. today and 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Today's performance will offer contemporary and traditional drumming; tomorrow's includes special guests Noel Okimoto (vibraphone, percussion), Frederick Lau (woodwinds), Todd Yukimoto (flute, saxophone), Robert Herr (shakuhachi), Darin Miyashiro (koto) and "Rosh" Tanaka (taiko, percussion) in an afternoon of modern compositions.
