Achievers

USS Missouri staff promoted

The USS Missouri Memorial Association has announced promotions of key staff members:

• Jacqueline Kemp has been hired as education manager. She will be responsible for developing the memorial's education program, which focuses on school children, and training tour guides in the history of the battleship.

Kemp received a master of arts in administration and curriculum from Gonzaga University in Washington.

A Hawai'i resident since 1965, she has taught at Kalaheo High School, Punahou Academy summer sessions and St. Anthony School in Kailua.

• Les Lancaster is the director of ship operations. He will plan and implement long-term and day-to-day maintenance, preservation and restoration activities of the engineering department and mange the department staff.

A retired Navy Command Master Chief, Lancaster became the USS Missouri boatswain in 1998. He was instrumental in restoration of the ship and coordination of volunteers in the effort.

• Sean Fierst has been promoted to tour programs manager. His duties include daily management of on-site tour operations, including designing tours, supervising staff and ensuring a high level of customer service.

Fierst moved to Hawai'i from Washington in 1998 and served as a tour guide supervisor for the memorial. He helped establish and implement the daily operating procedures and an initial plan to provide tours on board.

Lanakila Baptist grad elected

Jeremy-Leigh Domingo of 'Ewa Beach has been elected health sciences senator for the Associated Students of Linfield College—Portland Campus.

Domingo, a sophomore majoring in health sciences, is responsible for fund raising and updating the senate board for the 2002-03 academic year. She attends all meetings and helps with events sponsored by the student group.

She is the daughter of Jesus and Leticia Domingo of 'Ewa Beach and a 2001 graduate of Lanakila Baptist High School.

Salvation Army picks officers

The Salvation Army has inducted new officers:

• John "Jack" Flanagan, chairperson.

• David Arita, vice chairperson.

• Victor Fresca, vice chairperson.

• Gae Bergquist Trom-mald, immediate past chairperson.

The Salvation Army's Honolulu Advisory Board is made up of 43 volunteer community leaders charged with advising and assisting in O'ahu activities.

Mililani boy new Eagle Scout

Troop 164 of Mililani, Ka'ala District, has announced that Collin Siu has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

He is the son of Carlton and Burma Siu of Mililani and a junior at Iolani School.
