Man denies violating privacyA 36-year-old Pearl City man indicted last month for allegedly videotaping two women without their knowledge was arraigned yesterday in Circuit Court.
Gary Kaneshiro pleaded innocent to two counts of violation of privacy. Trial is set for the week of Dec. 9.
The alleged incident involving the women, ages 23 and 22, occurred last Oct. 30. Kaneshiro was arrested Friday and released after posting $5,000 bail.
'Ewa man suspect in knife threat
Police yesterday charged an 'Ewa man for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a knife during an argument Sunday.
Cornelio Dela Cruz, 42, is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and is being held in lieu of $11,000 bail. During an argument that escalated into pushing and shoving, Dela Cruz allegedly went home, returned with a knife and chased his neighbor with the weapon.
Man arrested on kidnapping charge
Police arrested a 39-year-old man at Circuit Court yesterday on suspicion of kidnapping and physically abusing his former girlfriend on Sept. 18.
The man, who was at court for an unrelated matter, was wanted on two outstanding domestic violence warrants that occurred before the incident last month.
The woman, 40, reported that she was confronted by her ex-boyfriend at Market City Shopping Center and held against her will at his Eighth Avenue residence, where she was allegedly beaten and threatened. The man blames her for a domestic violence conviction and six-month jail term, police said.
Big Island police arrest 23 for DUI
Big Island police arrested 23 motorists for drunken driving from Sept. 30 through Monday. Two were under the legal drinking age of 21.
There have been 652 DUI arrests on the Big Island this year, an increase of 6 percent over last year.
By comparison, Honolulu's six-month total has remained about the same.
From January through June of this year, Honolulu police had arrested 1,068 adults and 15 minors for DUI. During the same six-month period in 2001, there were 1,077 adult and 17 juvenile DUI arrests.
Bank robber still on loose
Police are seeking a man who robbed the First Hawaiian Bank Kaimuki branch on Friday afternoon.
The suspect entered the bank at 3599 Wai'alae Ave. about 4 p.m., stood in line, and then passed a demand note to the teller stating that he was armed.
The robber was last seen entering an older model white two-door Honda that was parked in the rear municipal parking lot. No weapon was seen.
He is described as in his 30s, 5 feet 6, 200 pounds with a heavy build. He has wavy black hair, dark eyes, medium complexion and a mustache, and was wearing a black baseball cap, green long-sleeve T-shirt, dark shorts and athletic shoes.
