Gas suspected in 'Aiea fires

Fire investigators and gas company inspectors yesterday were at Pagano's Pizza at 98-298 Kamehameha Highway in 'Aiea, where two fires within a five-hour period Sunday and yesterday morning caused an estimated $42,000 damage to the structure and contents.

Gas is suspected of being a contributing cause, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo said.

Five companies responded to an 11:20 alarm Sunday night and reported the fire extinguished at 1:10 a.m. yesterday.

A second alarm was reported at the same address at 3:29 a.m. Soo said firefighters put out a fire at the same place about a week ago.
