TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:

"Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. In its final season, this show is open to bigger changes. Tonight, it flashes several possibilities. Chandler plans for a job transfer to Tulsa. His wife, Monica, however, has a chance for a dream job in New York. Meanwhile, Joey has been promising Phoebe a date with a great guy named Mike; now he has to scramble to find any Mike. He comes up with one, who will be played by Paul Rudd over several episodes. There's more: Dumped by her baby's doctor, Rachel wants the pediatrician Ross had as a child. She finds a surprise.

"Liberia: America's Stepchild," 10 p.m., PBS. In 1847, Liberia became Africa's first independent republic. Founded by former American slaves, it had waves of good intentions. It has also had fierce setbacks, this documentary says. The newcomers often acted like colonialists and sometimes like slave traders. An elected president (William Tubman) stayed for 27 years, becoming a dictator. There were violent overthrows and a long civil war that killed 150,000 people. There have also been bursts of idealism. This documentary isn't particularly well made, but it has a fascinating story to tell.

OF NOTE

"Fighting For our Future," 7 p.m., Lifetime. This documentary makes the point that young women should be cautious about breast cancer. Melissa Joan Hart hosts the film, which includes several women who learned they had cancer in their 30s or even 20s.

"Survivor: Thailand," 7 p.m., CBS. It's time to throw a fourth person off the island.

"Scrubs," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Kelso offers the person who comes up with the most interesting case a trip to a medical conference in Reno. J.D. resists at first — until Elliott questions his motives.

"Will & Grace," 8 p.m., NBC. This story, which concludes next week, has Grace getting second thoughts about having a baby. After promising Will she'd have a year of no dating, she's met the perfect guy, played by Harry Connick Jr. In addition, Grace's interview with the Jewish Times goes bad.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. The bodies of a wealthy couple have been found, just outside the fancy house they put up for sale.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. Was a woman kidnapped in broad daylight with her husband nearby?

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Potential violence erupts early in this hour. That's followed by a walkout concerning security issues.
