GOLF REPORT
Hawai'i Course of the Week
Pearl Country Club has been in operation since 1967. Graced with a wide variety of stately trees, this course challenges all golfers with its varied terrain. Located on the gentle slopes of the Ko'olau mountain range, Pearl overlooks Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri, and the Wai'anae Mountain Range to the west.
The signature hole hits you immediately. The 490-yard first hole, a relatively easy par-5, requires an accurate tee shot. If you keep the ball in line with the front of the green, and manage to keep your eyes off the panoramic view as you swing, birdie is a realistic possibility.
Open year-round to the public, Pearl is a 20-minute drive from Waikiki. The driving range and practice putting greens are open daily. Club reservations are taken one year in advance.
Each February, Pearl hosts the $80,000 Hawai'i Pearl Open, a 54-hole event with players from Hawai'i, the Mainland, Japan, Australia and Canada.
Pearl is also available for shotgun tournaments for fund-raising or goodwill events, for groups of 140 or more players.
