Trivia winner to earn trip to WAC tourney

Advertiser Staff

As WAC volleyball hurtles through its first full month, the conference is conducting a volleyball trivia contest through the end of October.

Each week, two winners will be drawn and receive WAC merchandise. At the end of the month, one grand prize winner will be drawn and win a trip for two to the 2002 WAC Volleyball Tournament in Reno. The trip will include airfare, hotel, two prime all-session tickets to the tournament and hospitality at the arena.

Fans can play as often as they want. If they answer four of five questions correctly they will be entered into the drawing. To play the game, go to wac.org.

The 2002 WAC Volleyball Tournament will be Nov. 22-24 at Nevada's Virginia Street Gym. The top-seeded team plays in the Friday opener at noon PST against the No. 8 seed. Second-ranked Hawai'i goes into tomorrow's match against Tulsa with a 60-match conference winning streak.

First-round matches follow at 2 p.m. (No. 4 vs. No. 5), 5:30 (2 vs. 7) and 7:30 (3 vs. 6). Semifinals will be Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7. The championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine are defending champions.

UH has secured a block of tournament tickets that are on sale at its box office through Oct. 31. All-session passes go for $30 (adults) and $15 (students). Tickets are also on sale through Nevada's ticket office (775-348-7225).

The Silver Legacy Hotel is offering a fan rate through their reservations desk (1-800-687-8733). Reservation ID code is "volley." Rooms are $49 Thursday and $79 Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.
