TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:

"Intimate Portrait," 7 p.m., Lifetime. There are opposite instincts swirling inside Rosanna Arquette. She's a natural rebel, an independent spirit. She spent some of her childhood in a commune and emerged with a hippie spirit. She's also fallen wildly in love. Two songs — Toto's "Rosanna" and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" — have been written about her. Remarkably, she's set aside her independence (and her acting career) to be with men.

She has also played women who do the same. At 43, Arquette says all of that has changed. She and her daughter live alone; she pours energy into acting and into cancer projects in memory of her mother. This hour is filled with perceptive comments by Arquette and her famous clan, including sister (Patricia), brother (David) and sister-in-law (Courteney Cox Arquette).

OF NOTE

"7th Heaven," 7 p.m., WB. This offbeat hour has the dad (Stephen Collins) undergoing heart surgery. While his family worries, he drifts into an Elvis Presley fantasy.

"King of Queens," 7 p.m., CBS. Should beefy Doug try out for a semi-pro football team?

"Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. Ray doesn't particularly enjoy a night out with the guys. Does that mean he's maturing — or just getting dull?

"Third Watch," 8 p.m., NBC. Sully has to help an undercover operation by exploiting his wife's connection to a Russian mob boss. Meanwhile, a boy is missing and neighbors are convinced a known child molester is responsible.

"The Ship," 6-8 p.m., History Channel. During the next three nights, history and reality blend. We'll see modern people trying to duplicate Capt. James Cook's voyage from Australia to Bali.

"Crossing Jordan," 9 p.m., NBC. This hour plays off the real-life drama in which a wealthy young woman was accused of backing over a crowd in her SUV.
