Three firms taken to court for unpaid sewer fees

Associated Press

Hawai'i County has taken three businesses to court to collect nearly $100,000 in unpaid sewer fees.

Complaints were filed Thursday in Circuit Court in Hilo against Country Club Hawai'i Aoao, Cunningham Building Partners and Matchmaker Realty, and Designer Meats Inc.

Country Club Hawai'i Aoao, an association of apartment owners for the Country Club Hawai'i Condo Hotel, owes $58,915 in wastewater fees and interest, the county said.

The complaints, filed by Deputy Corporation Counsel Lester Ishado, also said Cunningham owes $27,391, and Designer Meats owes $12,454.

After taking office in 2000, Mayor Harry Kim formed a committee to look into delinquent payments for wastewater and water supply bills.
