Club offers special night for special folks

By Paula Rath
Advertiser Fashion Writer

The Ocean Club at Restaurant Row transforms itself into the Electric Piranha Room on the last Saturday of each month.

Hosted by fashion photographer Russell Tanoue, the event benefits Project Shine, a charity founded by Tanoue that offers makeovers and photo shoots to people battling cancer and related diseases, teenagers out of drug rehabilitation programs and victims of domestic violence. Tanoue says "It's to help give them a moment to forget what their body is dealing with and, to give them a moment to shine." (More information: www.russelltanoue.com/projectshine.htm.)

On Saturday, the highlight of the night will be a fashion show featuring hot and sexy holiday styles. The evening will also offer fire performers and interactive characters from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

There's no admission charge before 9 p.m.; later, the cover charge is $5. Information: Call Emi Tottori at 531-8444.
