DR. RALPH E.L. HERTZ, 82, of Mo'oloa Farm, 'Ulupalakua, Maui, died Oct. 14, 2002. Born in Greensburg, Penn. A surgeon at Memorial Hospital and Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; clinical instructor of surgery at Cornell Medical School; chief of service at Polyclinic Hospital; and consultant at Stang Clinic; and following retirement, emeritus medical staff member at Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases and Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and a pioneer in cancer research. Survived by children, Beatrice, Louise White, Frank, Dr. Christine Wolf, Ralph, Margaret McClendon, James, Kenneth, Dorothy Topham, Virginia, Donald and Jennifer Libsack; 30 grandchildren; sister, Olivette Stricker.
