Couple robbed in Waikiki hotel

A man armed with a knife forced his way into a Waikiki hotel room last night and robbed an elderly couple.

No one was injured in the 11 p.m. robbery at a Lewers Street hotel and there has been no arrest.

The couple, ages 75 and 73, told police a woman knocked on the door of their hotel room. When they opened the door, the armed man stepped in front of her and forced his way into the room. The robbers fled with a wallet and purse.

Bank robbery suspect arrested

A 41-year-old man was arrested last night on suspicion of bank robbery after turning himself in at the main police station.

Police had been looking to arrest the man, who has no local address, for more than a week as a suspect in the Aug. 22 robbery of American Savings Bank in Liliha.
