Baha'i faith honors birth

Members of the Bah‡'’ faith in Honolulu will celebrate the birth of B‡b, a central figure of their religion, with a special program tonight at the the Honolulu Bah‡'’ Center, 2165 10th Ave. in Palolo.

The program and devotions begin at 7:30 p.m., celebrating Mirza Ali-Muhammad, a merchant from Shiraz, Persia (now Iran), who was born Oct. 20, 1819.

Peace forum at State Capitol

Humanity United Globally will hold a three-part Forum Series at the State Capitol auditorium 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 9 and Nov. 16.

The topic is "Waging Peace — Confronting the Global Crisis in Human Conflict." Speakers include Peter Carlisle, city prosecutor; the Rev. Ted Robinson, senior minister at Central Union Church; and Majid Tehranian, director of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research.

Among the co-sponsors are the Matsunaga Peace Institute, the Open Table interfaith group, and five area churches.

Prayer service tomorrow

The Hawaii Conference of Religions for Peace is holding an interfaith prayer service tomorrow in Pearl City.

The two-hour Interfaith Prayer for World Peace begins at 4 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Park in Pearl City.
