• Gubernatorial candidates Mazie Hirono and Linda Lingle will be part of a forum discussion on technology, "TECH AND THE CANDIDATES," Thursday, sponsored by the Hawai'i Venture Capital Association and the Hawai'i Technology Trade Association. Among topics expected to be discussed will be the concept of a "wireless Waikiki" and other tech infrastructure projects, marketing local tech businesses globally, technology education in the schools, the state's technology tax credit program, and the new University of Hawai'i medical school. • Results of an annual survey of the travel habits, preferences and intentions of Americans, will be presented at the Oct. 28 meeting of the local chapter of the AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION. The Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown/Yankelovich Partners' 2002 National Travel Monitor presentation will also include results from a recent poll on the anticipated effects of the stock market on travel plans. Following the presentation, a panel of Hawai'i travel professionals will discuss the findings, and their experience and expectations for the future.
