Gen. Tommy Franks, right, commander of the U.S. campaign in Afghanistan, greeted troops participating in Pakistan-U.S. joint army exercises yesterday at an undisclosed location in Pakistan.
Franks said the military would remain committed to the long-term stability of Afghanistan, including the training of a national army.
He did not answer journalists' questions about U.S. preparations for a possible strike in Iraq, saying President Bush had yet to decide on whether to attack.
