Four teens suspected in Kalihi hijackings

Police yesterday arrested four girls, ages 15 and 16, suspected of committing a series of after-school hijackings and robberies of middle-school children.

Arizona Memorial thieves sought

Honolulu police and the Naval Regional Security Investigations are asking for the public's assistance in identifying thieves who broke into a vehicle Oct. 4 at the USS Arizona Memorial visitor parking lot.

Video surveillance cameras showed the thieves driving a stolen white Dodge minivan and entering the parking lot at 8:20 a.m. They parked next to a 2002 Ford Mustang convertible rented by a family from California.

The man in the passenger seat then entered the driver's door and popped the trunk, police said.

The suspect is described as in his 30s, 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He had dark hair, mustache and goatee. He was, wearing a dark baseball cap, dark T-shirt with a shaka sign and dark shorts.

The vehicle he was riding in is a 1993 white Dodge van with a Hawai'i license plate EVZ 174, according to police. Anyone with information about this case should call Navy criminal investigator Travis R. Earl at 474-6205 or CrimeStoppers anonymously at 955-8300 or *CRIME.
