Schoolchildren taking part in this year's Kids Voting Hawai'i E-lection will be asked to weigh in on constitutional amendment No. 2, on tax-exempt bonds for private schools.
Beginning today, youngsters in grades K-12 can vote by logging on to www.kidsvotinghawaii.org. It is the first time Hawai'i students will be casting ballots via the Internet.
In addition to voting for candidates in various races, youngsters will be asked to vote on one of the three proposed constitutional amendments. The question on the ballot reads: "Without using public tax money or taking money from public schools, should private schools be allowed to apply for tax-exempt bonds from the state of Hawai'i to repair and renovate their facilities?"
A blank ballot counts as a no vote.
The results of the Kids Voting E-lection will be announced soon after the adult polls close Nov. 5.
