Advertiser Staff

The Kamehameha Schools football team has jumped 11 spots to No. 30 in Student Sports Inc.'s national Fab 50 rankings released yesterday.

The Warriors (7-0) are ranked ahead of such notable programs as No. 34 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and No. 43 Evangel Christian (Shreveport, La.). Kamehameha also is ranked No. 6 in Student Sports' West Region rankings, which includes No. 1-ranked De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), No. 2 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly and teams from 12 Western states.

Student Sports is a national magazine and Web site based in Torrance, Calif. Its staff includes Doug Huff, who originated regional rankings in 1987.

The Warriors also have broken into USA Today's West Region rankings, at No. 8.

Kamehameha defeated Iolani, 28-0, last weekend and will play Pac-Five on Friday at its on-campus Kunuiakea Stadium.
