Builders association endorses Lingle, Aiona

The Associated Builders and Contractors Hawai'i Chapter endorsed Republican Linda Lingle for governor and Duke Aiona for lieutenant governor yesterday.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Linda Lingle and her running mate Duke Aiona have the support of the Associated Builders and Contractors Hawai'i Chapter.

"We believe Linda is open-minded and will ensure that our membership has a voice on those issues that affect the construction industry," said Gary Wiseman, executive director of the association, which is also known as ABC.

The association represents 138 construction-related companies that employ about 2,000 people.

Lingle said the construction industry is important to the economy, adding: "I want the members of ABC to know that we will work very hard to make sure that all government contracts are always awarded on the basis of merit. We want to judge work on who gives the best projects to the taxpayers at the best price."
