Anti-crime rally set for Kalihi

A rally to support bringing the Weed & Seed law-enforcement program into Kalihi Valley will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kamehameha Community Park.

The event, called Kalihi Ohana Day, will include speakers from the police department, U.S. Attorney's office and residents who are working on committees to extend the Kalihi-Palama/Chinatown Weed & Seed program farther into Kalihi.

Weed & Seed relies on community efforts and tough legal penalties to "weed out" crime, then applies crime prevention, intervention, treatment and neighborhood revitalization to "seed" a safer community.

The event will also include free entertainment, games, displays and refreshments.
