• CHILDREN'S CHARITY: Gina Lopez, director of Bantay Bata, the largest, private children's charity in the Philippines, will discuss new efforts to benefit Filipino children at the Philippine Consulate in Honolulu at 2433 Pali Highway; the event begins at 4 p.m.

Bantay Bata sponsors foster programs to provide food, shelter and medical help to children living in poverty. The programs also help parents through employment, counseling and education. 528-1329.
