Police homicide investigators are assisting in the assault investigation.

A witness had seen the man socializing with two other men earlier at the beach, police said. The witness told police a pickup truck sped off from the scene shortly before he saw the injured man lying on the ground.

Police said Aholelei punched the window of the 27-year-old woman's car at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Kalaniana'ole Highway and West Hind Drive.
