Radford's Alegre to be honored

Former Radford High School basketball coach Jim Alegre will be honored at a dinner hosted by the school's alumni class of 1972.

Radford High School will re-name its gymnasium to Jim Alegre Gymnasium.

During his 34 seasons at Radford, Alegre guided the Rams to four state titles, nine league championships and more than 600 victories. Alegre also served as the school's athletic director for 16 years, retiring in 1998.

The banquet will be held Dec. 11 at the Hale Ikena at Fort Shafter from 6 to 10 p.m. Cost is $35. For information, call Bill Laeha at 423-9543; 382-1518. Deadline is Nov. 23.
