Santa breakfast, lunch on Dec. 14

Reservations are being accepted for the 16th annual "Breakfast With Santa" fund-raiser,set for Dec. 14 at the Japanese Cultural Center's Manoa Grand Ballroom.

The event, a project of Protect Child Abuse, offers seatings for breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. or lunch from noon to 2 p.m.

Popular costumed characters will join Santa, including Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Elmo, Barney, Dalmatian, Taz, Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird and Sylvester.

Tickets: $18 for adults, $15 for children 2 and older; includes meal, photo with Santa, clowns, magicians, face-painting, games, entertainment and a Christmas gift.

Czech quartet coming to Orvis

As part of the Honolulu Chamber Music Series, the Herold String Quartet from the Czech Republic will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Orvis Auditorium, University of Hawai'i-Manoa. A meet-the-artists reception, from 6:30 p.m. in the UH Music Building, Room 36, will precede the concert.

The Prague group will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Dvorak, plus compositions by Czech composers Hurnik, Janacek and Smetana.

Members are Peter Zdvihal, first violin; Jan Valta, second violin; Karel Untermuller, viola; and David Havelik, cello.ickets: $24 for adults, $15 for students, at the UH Campus Center.

'Salesman' opens Nov. 8 at HPU

Hawai'i Pacific University Theatre's production of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" will feature Don Pomes as Willy Loman.

The drama premieres at 8 pm. Nov. 8 at HPU's Windward campus. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 pm. Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 8. There is no performance on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.

Sylvia Horman-Alper will portray Linda, Scott Davis will be Biff. Others in the cast include Joshua Gulledge, Brad Powell, Hank Chapin, Russell Motter, Virginia Jones, Joni Robertson, Nick Quinlivan, Erin Bender and Danielle Bishaw.

Tickets: $14 adults, $10 seniors, military, students and HPU staff, and $5 HPU students.
