Tonight's Must-See
"American Masters: Lon Chaney: A Thousand Faces," 9 p.m., PBS. Lon Chaney grew up in a world of silence. His parents were deaf, and he became a skillful impersonator and mime at home. That suited him to star in silent films. Chaney became the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Halloween brings us a warm portrait of a master at masquerade.
Of Note
"Ed," 7 p.m., NBC. Two "Saturday Night Live" regulars, Horatio Sanz and Chris Parnell, are guests. "The West Wing," 8 p.m., NBC. It's time for Bartlet to debate his Republican election opponent. "Fastlane," 8 p.m., Fox. The edgy heroes face Russian gun-runners.
